Winifred lives with her mother and grandmother in a multi-family home in the small community of Amrahia, in the Volta region of Ghana. Her parents are separated and her father does not support his family, so her mother works hard as a food vendor but needs help sending Winifred to school.
An education is so important in Ghana because it helps to break the cycle of poverty. Families in our sponsorship program earn such a low income that they are struggling to send their child to school. At the International Needs school in Amrahia, children would receive a warm meal, a quality education, school supplies, medical care, and Christian nurture.
