Matrina lives with her parents and her younger brother in the city of Siliguri, in West Bengal, India. Her father works as a laborer in a tea garden and her mother is a homemaker. The family income is very low and unsteady and they need help sending Matrina to school. An education is so important because it helps to break the cycle of poverty and give hope for a brighter future.
The International Needs project in Siliguri assists Nepali children living in India. The children receive assistance with schooling costs, books, equipment, uniforms, and medical care. They also receive food, Christian nurture, and Bible teaching.
