Josphine lives with her parents, two brothers and sister. Her father washes cars and her mother is a housewife. Their income is very low and they are unable to fully provide for their children. Josphine does not know her birthday but was born in 2002.
The family lives in Kibera, a slum with around a quarter of a million people living in 1.5 square miles. There is no waste removal or clean water and open sewage runs through the slum. Education is expensive for children in Kibera because they must provide their own supplies to attend school.
