Jamawa lives with her parents in Uganda. Her father works in a sugar plantation and her mother does petty jobs like selling sweet bananas, but their income is so low that they are unable to provide for Jamawa’s education.
Jamawa lives in a country plagued by poverty, famine, malaria, and AIDS. An education will help her to break free from poverty so she can have hope for a fulfilling future. Sponsorship provides her with food, clothing, a Christian education, medical check-ups, biblical teaching, and Christian nurture.
Jamawa likes to read and play with dolls. She helps her parents at home by sweeping.
