Lucky lives with her parents and siblings in the village of Gatwekera in the Kibera slum. She has a younger brother, one older sister, and three younger sisters including a brand new baby. Lucky’s mother is a housewife and her father is a casual laborer, looking for jobs on a daily basis. They live in a mud brick one room home. They need to buy water daily from local water vendors, as they do not have any plumbing in their home. The family is Christian.

Lucky is a gifted girl and desires to become an engineer. However, she lives in abject poverty and may not be able to continue in school without funds.
