Kenya’s Kibera Slum
Kibera is an urban slum in the southwest sector of the capital city of Nairobi which has a population of 3.4 million people. As one of the most densely-populated slums per kilometer in Africa, Kibera’s needs span the full range of the human condition – especially the need for the gospel and for education.
International Needs’ gospel outreach in this community includes children’s bible clubs that meet on Saturdays, sharing the hope of the Gospel and a fresh meal. Currently, there are five bible clubs in Kibera with a sixth one starting soon.
Education in informal settlements such as Kibera is less accessible than rural areas.Child sponsorships insure access to education in a public school where a child may earn a basic education, igniting their vision for a better life.
