Wow, have we been challenged by that thought and I think we have more questions than answers. For example, how has urbanization contributed to the impoverishment of large swaths of the population? How has government corruption affected the lack of infrastructure leading to massive underemployment? Even more so, what role have NGOs played in creating dependency that has taken jobs away from willing people?
We know that what we in the West might think of as poverty really isn’t. Poverty is much deeper than economic; it is also social, environmental, and spiritual. However, the challenges are different in each country and the solutions will also be different.
