Bernice and her family live in a community 4 kilometers away from the Agortorme school in a one room mud house. Her father is a driver who works when he can find it and her mother is a petty trader. They earn very little from their respective jobs. Despite the constraint in their finances, they work very hard to make sure Bernice is in school to be educated. Bernice wants to be a banker, moving out of poverty so she can help her family.
An education is so important in Ghana because it helps to break the cycle of poverty. Families in our sponsorship program earn such a low income that they are struggling to send their child to school. At the International Needs school children would receive a warm meal, a quality education, school supplies, medical care and Christian nurture.
