Elchiho lives with his parents and his brother in the small community of Amrahia, in the Volta region of Ghana. His father is a mason and his mother is a dressmaker, but their income is very low and unsteady. The family lives in an unfinished block house without electricity and must access their water from a borehole.
An education is so important in Ghana because it helps to break the cycle of poverty. Families in our sponsorship program earn such a low income that they are struggling to send their child to school. At the International Needs school in Amrahia, children would receive a warm meal, a quality education, school supplies, medical care, and Christian nurture.
