Emmanuel lives with his aunt, siblings, and cousins in a small community outside of Kebenu, in the Volta region of Ghana. His mother passed away and his father abandoned the family. His aunt, his mother’s sister, is doing her best to provide for the basic needs for her own children as well as for Emmanuel and his siblings. However, she is a peasant farmer and earns a very meager income and she is not able to send Emmanuel to school.
