Florence is very involved in school and one of the best science students in her class. She is the second oldest in her family, living with her parents and four siblings in a block house with access to well water. They live in a small community outside of Agortorme, in the Volta region of Ghana. Her father is a farmer and her mother sells and trades vegetables and fruit in the local market. Their income is very low and they are struggling to meet the needs of the family, therefore Florence needs assistance in order to continue her education.
