Phiona lives with her parents and three siblings in the small community of Doblogonno, in the great Accra region of Ghana. Her parents work hard but their income is low and unstable and they can’t afford to send Phiona to school and provide for the family. Phiona wants to be a nurse when she is older and she works very hard in school.
An education is so important in Ghana because it helps to break the cycle of poverty. Families in our sponsorship program earn such a low income that they are struggling to send their child to school. At the International Needs school children receive a warm meal, quality education, school supplies, medical care, and Christian nurture.
