Bijay and his family lived in Sindhupalchowk, the district of Nepal that was hardest hit by the 2015 earthquakes, and they lost their home, barn, livestock, and plot of land. The family has had to relocate to Kathmandu and are living in a small rented room with the six members of their family. Bijay’s father works as a gardener in a flower nursery and his mother takes care of the house and children. They never dreamed that they would need to ask for help to afford an education for Bijay. Bijay is a very helpful boy, and he helps at home a lot.
An education is so important because it helps to break the cycle of poverty and give hope for a brighter future. Sponsorship in Nepal provides children with tuition costs.
