Update on Your Child’s School Status
You will be glad to know we are working hard to keep your child safe and their education ongoing!
Each country has a different set of government regulations they need to follow. Some schools are required to remain virtual, some are back to in-person learning, and others have a mix of the two.
Here is a list of what we know right now:
Bangladesh: The children at Bethany and Savar who live at school are able to have in person classes. All other schools are not yet in session. The government has pushed back possible reopening until at least March. The teachers at the International Needs schools are going into the slums daily to meet with sponsored children at their homes to bring them school materials despite the health risk to themselves.
Burkina Faso: Children are meeting in person at school.
Colombia: Children are in school virtually.
Ghana: Children are meeting in person at school, they resumed mid-January.
India: Children in primary school are meeting virtually. Children in secondary school are doing a hybrid of meeting in person and online. Many of them are preparing for exams. (Grades 10 and 12 meet three days of the week in person and grades 9 and 11 meet the other three days of the week in person.)
Kenya: Children are meeting in person at school, they resumed mid-January. High school students who go to boarding school were also able to return to their schools for the first time in 9 months. Saturday Bible Clubs have also resumed in February.
Nepal: Children will go back to school in person when their school year begins, which is in April.
Philippines: Children are in school virtually.
Slovakia: Children are meeting in person at most schools.
Uganda: The children are going back to school in stages. Children in grades taking exams have been in meeting in person at school (Primary 7, Senior 4, Senior 6). Three grades will resume in person on March 1 (Primary 6, Senior 3, Senior 5). Children in primary school and Senior 1, 2, are in school virtually, some may go back to in person learning in April.
Zambia: Children are meeting in person at school, they resumed on February 1, 2021.
Because of you, your child is returning to school safely, or continuing to learn virtually. You are making a difference through the support of your child!
*All children who are in school in person are required to wear masks, maintain social distance, and follow handwashing protocols. They are instructed on Covid-19 prevention.
