What was your first reaction to a web page about toilets?

Curiosity? Incredulity? A chuckle? In the United States, it is tempting to see toilets as a laughing matter.

But in homes and villages where there are no safe toilets and no clean water for hand washing, toilets are a serious matter.

When a child gets the opportunity to go to school through the International Needs sponsorship program, his life starts to change. He begins an educational journey that can change his future. At school, he receives clean water, nutritious meals, and access to safe toilets.

But he doesn’t live at school. Home is much different.

A healthy school environment is important, but a healthy home environment is critical. When you look across the road from school, you see an incredible amount of need: families using a hand dug pit covered with sticks as a toilet – similar to the photo to the right – or using their own yard for human waste, the same space where children run and play in bare feet.

uganda_toiletinvillage_small_optTogether, we can change this reality for families by providing 200 new latrines. As little as $200 helps up to ten people with a latrine that meets the World Health Organization’s definition of improved sanitation. $200 protects children and family members from diseases caused when excrement is not isolated from human contact.

Will you give $100 to help 5 people? Or $200 to help 10 people? Will you give $1,000 to help 50 people? No matter the amount, your gift matters and we need your help!

To help with this critical need, please donate online now! We cannot do this without you!
