One Chance IN Bangladesh

The Problem
The Banasree area of Dhaka is marked by devastating poverty and is recognized as a slum. Many children are compelled to work—often in dangerous, low-paying jobs—to help support themselves and their families. In these vulnerable situations, children face heightened risks of human trafficking, child marriage, exploitation, and abuse. With little support available for families, cycles of poverty and injustice continue, trapping generation after generation.

The Program
The safest place for a child in this situation is the classroom. The Bangladesh Group Empowerment Program helps children in Banasree stay in school from kindergarten through secondary education. Through this program, students receive not only an education but also meals and health care. By supporting children in groups, this sponsorship model protects those most at risk of exploitation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive without being left behind.
