COUNTRIES WE SERVE
IN Egypt
Country Overview
Egypt is home to over 97 million people, the majority of whom are Muslim. Less than 10% of the population is Christian with the majority of those belonging to the Orthodox Coptic faith. Egypt is also home to many refugee populations including Syrians and Sudanese.
International Needs began its ministry in Egypt in 1997 after Nathan Bassaly and his wife Sawsan felt the Lord calling them to minister. The IN Egypt ministry operates in seven major areas: a Bible school, publication of Christian materials, vocational training, ministry of evangelism and compassion to people in the south of Egypt, refugee ministry, leadership conferences, and children’s ministry.

Nathan Bassaly was born in Egypt. His father was a school teacher, but then the Lord called him to become a pastor in the south of Egypt. When Nathan was a child, he experienced the horrific death of his father, which changed his family forever.
Nathan graduated from university as a veterinary surgeon, but he felt the Lord calling him to full-time ministry. In 1986, he left his job and studied at New Life Bible School in New Zealand. Upon completion of his studies, he returned to Egypt to begin full-time ministry. Nathan is a passionate and stalwart champion of the gospel, representing International Needs across the Middle East.
